Physical Education (PE)

This PE planning document is based on the Get Set 4 PE scheme, which has been adopted by St Mary's Primary School to provide a consistent, progressive and high-quality physical education curriculum for all pupils from EYFS to Year 6. The scheme ensures clear progression in skills, knowledge and physical development, enabling teachers to deliver engaging and effective PE lessons while supporting all children to achieve their potential. The document forms the foundation of our PE provision and helps ensure consistency of teaching and learning across the school.

Whilst this scheme underpins our taught PE curriculum, we are committed to providing a wide range of additional sporting opportunities, clubs, competitions and enrichment activities that go beyond the curriculum. These experiences help children develop confidence, teamwork, leadership and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and sport.

We are incredibly proud that St Mary's has been awarded the Platinum School Games Mark for the second time, meaning we have now achieved four years at Platinum level. This prestigious national recognition reflects our continued commitment to providing outstanding sporting opportunities for all pupils.
