We believe that St Mary’s is a fantastic place for children to learn and grow. We welcome children into our school in Reception and again in Year 3.

During the Autumn Term, we will be hosting a series of Open Tours, giving prospective parents and carers the opportunity to visit our school and see it in action. Tours will take place on the following dates:

Infant Tours - Starting Point in Reception Age 4

• Wednesday 16th September - 9.30 - 10.30am
• Monday 5th October - 1.30 - 2.30pm
• Thursday 12th November - 1.30 - 2.30pm

Junior Tours - Starting Point in Year 3 Age 7

• Wednesday 23rd September - 1.30 - 2.30pm 
• Wednesday 14th October - 9.30 - 10.30am
• Thursday 19th November - 9.30 - 10.30am

Extra Tour - We will host a final Open Tour for any age of entry on Wednesday 13th January 2027

Our Open Tour will begin in the main office area with a presentation from a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), who will introduce our school's ethos and values.

• For families considering entry into Reception (EYFS) at age 4, the tour will focus primarily on our Infant classrooms, with an opportunity to visit some areas of the Junior School.
• For families considering entry into Year 3 at age 7, the tour will focus on the Junior School, allowing visitors to explore the learning environment and facilities relevant to this stage of education.

Open Tours are limited to a maximum of 30 attendees, so please email admissions@stmarysprimary.org with your name and the number of people who will be attending to reserve your place.

If there are any specific questions you would like answered during the tour, please feel free to include these in your email in advance. This will help us ensure that we can provide the information most relevant to you.

At St Mary’s, we warmly welcome children at any stage of their educational journey. Our main points of entry are at age 4 into Reception, and at age 7 for children moving from an infant school. The information below outlines our admissions process.

You should also check how close your home address is to the school and whether it falls within the relevant ecclesiastical parishes listed in the criteria (Please click here to see the latest maps). You can also do this using the parish boundary map or by visiting Churches Near You and entering your address. (The school is in the parish of Oxted, St Mary the Virgin, although the buildings may be difficult to see on the map.)

If you are applying on the basis of church attendance, please complete the Supplementary Information Form for September 2026, available below.

All applications need to be made via the Surrey County Council website. To find out how Surrey calculates distances from your home to school go to Surrey School Map and to find your closest school go to Surrey School Finder. All applications need to be made via the Surrey County Council website.

If you need to apply for a place outside of the usual admissions period (eg: if you move into the area or you wish to change schools) please use the Admissions Policy that applies to the school year you are applying in and please use the in-year application form with Surrey County Council.

• For an in-year school application please visit the Surrey County Council website and complete and submit a CMA form.
• The completed form is submitted to Surrey County Council who will pass your details on to the school.
• If we do not have any places available when we receive your application form you can ask to be added to the waiting list for the relevant year group.

Despite the fact that we are usually oversubscribed, there is often some movement in the availability of places between the initial offer date and the start of the new school year and at later dates (eg: vacancies arise from time to time when families move away or if they decide not to take up a place they have applied for).

• We operate a waiting list (held in the school office) for families that would like a place when one becomes available.
• If you are not initially offered a place and would like to be kept on the waiting list please contact us.
• When a place becomes available in a year group, the applicants on the waiting list will be considered according to the published admissions criteria to determine which potential pupil is eligible to be offered the next place.

If your application is unsuccessful, your child will be automatically added to our dynamic waiting list. Please note that the order of the waiting list is determined by the admissions criteria applied to all children on the list, rather than by the date of request, and therefore a child’s position on the list may change.

If you are not offered a place at the school and feel the admissions criteria have not been applied correctly or your circumstances are exceptional, you do have the right to appeal against the decision.

Please see the appeals timetable on our website to find the closing date for appeals to be lodged in the Summer Term so that they are heard before the term ends.

You should lodge your appeal with the appeals service at Surrey County Council and they will liaise with the school to arrange the appeal on a convenient date at the school.
