SIAMS

A SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection evaluates how well a Church school’s Christian vision shapes every aspect of school life, including leadership, relationships, the curriculum and pupils’ personal development. At St Mary’s, the October 2024 inspection recognised a deeply embedded and clearly articulated vision that places belonging, identity and service at its heart. This vision is fully understood and lived out across the school community, creating an environment where both pupils and adults flourish.

The report celebrates the strong and inclusive culture at St Mary’s, where every child is valued as a unique individual and encouraged to be confident in who they are. Leaders were praised for skilfully shaping a school that responds to its community and ensures that all feel seen, supported and able to succeed. This is underpinned by highly effective relationships with families, governors and the wider community, resulting in a strong sense of trust, fellowship and shared purpose.

A key strength highlighted is the rich and inspiring curriculum, which goes beyond academic achievement to nurture pupils’ personal, spiritual and creative development. Opportunities in the arts, music, performance and enrichment activities enable pupils to discover and use their gifts with confidence. Collective worship is a central and highly valued part of school life, deepening spirituality and reinforcing the school’s Christian values, while strong links with the local church further enhance pupils’ experiences.

Overall, the inspection recognises St Mary’s as a thriving and caring school community where wellbeing is a priority and pupils are encouraged to grow, reflect and contribute. Guided by its Christian vision, the school successfully creates a nurturing environment in which every member is supported to flourish and to become the best version of themselves.
