School Uniform and PE Kit

School Uniform

At St Mary’s Primary School our uniform contributes to our sense of belonging and shared ethos. We believe that wearing a uniform helps to create a strong and positive school identity, where every pupil feels included and part of our community. It promotes equality by reducing visible differences between children, allowing them to focus on their learning and personal development rather than appearance.

Our uniform also supports high standards and expectations. When pupils wear their uniform with pride, it reflects a readiness to learn and a respect for the school environment. We encourage all children to take responsibility for their appearance, developing habits of organisation and self-discipline that will support them throughout their education.

In addition, our uniform helps to strengthen the partnership between home and school by creating a consistent and recognisable image within the wider community. It allows staff to easily identify pupils on trips and visits, supporting safety and safeguarding.

Overall, the St Mary’s uniform is an important part of our school culture, helping to foster pride, unity, and a shared commitment to our values.

PE Kit

PE, and leading a healthy lifestyle, is an important part of our school. Our PE Kit policy, below, outlines the expectations for all children.  Additionally, we ask that children who have their ears pierced only wear earrings inline with the school policy (simple gold or silver studs), and which they can take out independently to allow them to take part in PE activities.

Please make sure that all items of school uniform are clearly named
